Origins

Babylon is an ancient city located on the Euphrates River in southern Mesopotamia.  Modern Baghdad is now located about 50 miles north of where this ancient city once stood.  Until archeologists discovered many of its riches during the 19th century, the riches, wealth, and power of Babylon were considered mythical stories. 

The name Babylon means "The Gate of God."  The beauty and powerful presence of the well bred German Shepherd embodies the glory of this ancient city.  Just as this ancient city has undergone many changes in culture, both good and bad, the German Shepherd Dog also has a rich history with many changes in the breed.
